“y’all are weird about people that don’t like damangela” no y’all are weird about people who LIKE damangela. That’s the only reason why there’s any discourse in the first place. idc if you don’t like damangela if you just move about your day when you see damangela content. I’m not trying to make people like them if they just don’t vibe with them. I care when you spread hate for no reason. If I don’t like a ship, I simply ignore it and scroll past when I see it, not bring it up just to make fun of it every chance I get.

Honestly, I don't think we're weird about damangela. I'm just pointing out cute moments like everyone else. For example, the Perfect Person podcast where Angela told that story about getting drunk at the company Christmas party and having a deep conversation with Damien telling him how grateful she is for him and how much she loves him and their company. I don't talk about how I think they are secretly in love or secretly dating or anything and have even specifically referred to them as friends (and even shut someone down who talked about how they thought Damien was flirting with Angela fr). If I ever talked about them in a more romantic shippy way I have made it exceptionally clear that I am talking about fanfic or that I am kidding and don't actually think they have feelings for each other.

Also literally yesterday I put "#I love how much she loves her friends" in the tags of a video of Angela looking at Damien where if I was "not acting normal" about them, it would've been a perfect opportunity to say something completely different, but instead kept it platonic because I just appreciate their dynamic and them as a duo. I'm not one of those people trying to push them together and say they MUST date or something. Again, I'm just pointing out cute moments between my faves just like everyone else does for their favorite duos. And even the ones who do ship them more and do see/say things in a more romantic sense, are being relatively normal. No one is trying to force it onto them or anyone else or is trying to stalk them to "prove they're secretly together" or anything. Like they just see cute moments and go "aww that's so cute they're cute together I ship it!" and that's it. You're on tumblr in one of the most ship-positive/multiship fandoms like I really don't think we're doing anything *that* different from anyone else here honestly.

So talking about amanda and angela wanting to kiss with tongue is normal but us saying damien and angela are looking at each other more fondly recently and thinking it's sweet is weird and we're freaks.... interesting.. it's almost like shipping real people isn't actually the problem 🧐🤔

and when they play women it’s almost always some stereotypical and misogynistic shit. also, you can disagree with me, but tommy building his yt channel around ‘serving cunt’ is disgusting and stupid. gays will say this as a compliment (i don’t see it as one btw) and in the same breath use c-word as an insult exclusively towards women. they’re too comfortable with misogynistic language and behaviour, because for some reason women let them get away with it. we have been their biggest allies (even hetero women) since day one and that’s how they treat us? have some fucking respect.

Gotta agree that Chanse’s misogyny really rubs me the wrong way and it’s extra disappointing that nobody seems to call him out on it. ATP I don’t watch any Reddit stories with him because I know he’ll get on my nerves but even in other videos a lot of his humor seems rooted in attacking women too. Tommy is also very guilty of this especially lately, so many of his bits r just ruthlessly attacking women in a simply nasty way. As a lesbian I’m sick of gay men getting a pass to be straight up vitriolic towards women, it’s not like the humor is satirical in a way that subverts misogyny rather it attacks women the same way any other sexist would.

taking smosh reddit stories so seriously and being so mad about cast’s takes is really stupid. they are reacting based on the small piece of info they are given, they can’t really see the full picture and obviously they don’t know these people personally. they can only interpret a situation in their own way and speak theoretically or from their own experience.

also, guests don’t have the post itself in front of their eyes so they’re only relying on hearing it and this way of receiving information is hard for some people. thus, some context might (and does) get lost. they don’t have time to reread it, fully digest and form a solid opinion (about a story that could easily be a lie). but they still try. they still find ways to approach the situation from different perspectives and to see both sides.

keep in mind, we’re talking about entertainers, not counsellors. they are ordinary people with their own opinions which can (and maybe should) contradict with yours. they can’t take into account everyone’s feelings, povs, struggles etc. so they probably don’t mean any harm, just sometimes possibly could’ve known better. i think we have other and more important things to call smosh out for.

I think people's issues with Smosh Reddit Stories would be solved if they filmed it in a different way.

On most reddit videos, there is at least one story that there is a bad take to. And the comments always get on it and sometimes are put off of the person the take came from. (Personally, I'll usually disagree and have a rant in my head and then just move on). It has been pointed out though that these are their first impressions, and they are often filming reddit stories at the end of a shoot week or like first thing in the morning.

If that is truly the cause of the bad takes when they happen, then a different way of filling could theoretically fix it. Since we probably still want their first reactions, there could be a start point that is just them being read the stories. Then their takes could be filmed at a later time, either later in that day or later in the shoot week, thus giving them time to process and think instead of saying absolute first thoughts. This would also probably reduce the amount that they miss key details.

Idk it would probably be a lot harder to do this way, but it was fun to think about.

so true. even in the recent games video he said posting colourful socks is for cringe middle aged white women or something. like… what? even this small remark gave me an ick, so don’t get me started on other stuff he says. also, smosh men actually love putting “white” in front of “women” just to get away with classic misogyny. i feel bad for angela.

Strangely, one member of the cast that truly stands out to me for their routine misogyny is Chanse. It may be that I'm queer, and I'm used to queer spaces where gay men expect to get away with it, so I could be projecting. But, it can be so offputting at times, because it doesn't even feel like a bit. It's just instinctive and sometimes spiteful. The more Smosh I watch, the more Angela's 'misandrist' outbursts feel like a cope.

Came across a ridiculous post from a moot and just like, the % of amangela shippers who can't refrain from making every single thing they're in shipping and covering posts with it is over 70 atp, but they have the nerve to be annoyed by damangela shippers? Claiming they all think it's real when it's a tiny percentage all while amangela shippers are slapping captions like "she wants that cookie" on innocent pictures. Yall b projecting HARD.
