YES! yes I really do, and I’d even go so far as to say he is a little pretentious in that nerdy little kid way, so he already doesn’t like most everyone

but that’s the thing, he’s so anti-emotional bc he’s focused on surviving that it’ll never be enough to ever make him turn on Ralph bc he needs him as a talking piece yk, but I’d definitely say so

If we’re being really honest, I don’t view anyone on this island as friends LMFAOOOOOOO

I just think that’s a boring approach tho so I disregard the obvious tension in every relationship and make them a big happy family

but yes Peter fucking hates that guy ac, in my mind he compliments and supports Ralph bc he can’t have him lose hope or else he’s damned too

I think this interpretation also makes sense with the whole intellect thing, bc I don’t think Golding meant to say logic will always be beat out when shit hits the fan, but more so it won’t be enough. But to have that statement, Peter had to have achieved something or have been effective for a short instance, and I think getting Ralph to fully believe in himself, Peter as a friend, and keep fighting was his achievement. It’s a fairly impressive one too, considering how weak Ralph is lmfao

I do fw extended cut lord of the flies where Simon and Peter aren’t killed until like three to four years later, because not only would it be heart crushing in inevitability, but it’s more understood to evb complicit and implicitly involved

Just finished reading Lord of the Flies, and I will only say a couple of words:

Simon and Piggy deserved better

Okay!! A completed 80s au look kinda thing.

The setup of characters was inspired by @chasing-the-western-sun and their roller rink au!!!!

Maybe one day I’ll dive really deep into this au but for now it’s just me fucking around with hideous fashion from the 80s. Right now theyre just teenagers vibing. The twins, robert, and bill are up next!!

Hey hey, finally I’m ready with my part of the art trade with @mccall-me-maurice This is Ralph, Piggy and Simon going to an ice cream shop! Hope you’ll like it ^^ My next piece is gonna be the Gaudete illustration with the whole choir, but I have yet to decide which medium to use, markers or aquarell… I might go with aquarell though because I have a much, much more intense and brighter blue compared to the markers I own, and that color is very much needed for the background… you’ll see ^^

What the boys do during quarantine

Ralph: Focuses in schoolwork as hard as possible, stays inside, sits on Instagram and TikTok for 11 hours a day

Piggy: educates himself on every aspect of the virus, diligently does schoolwork, texts Ralph rants about his neighbors breaking quarantine

Jack: doesn’t stay inside, meets up with friends, doesn’t wear a mask and makes fun of everyone who does

Simon: avoids the news because it makes him sad, plays Animal Crossing 24/7, goes for walks at night

Samneric: fight over the TV remote, frequently interrupts their Moms Zoom work meetings, settle on a puzzle and then never finish it

What headcanons do you guys have for LOTF characters and the subjects they’d study at university? I’m curious.

Mine are:

Jack - law (Jack is just peak law-student vibes. Typical overachieving head boy, head chorister, likes to pick arguments with everyone, theatrical enough to appreciate the showmanship of being a lawyer.)

Maurice - chemistry (okay, hear me out, I just feel like Maurice could be that guy who seems like just a memer on the surface but is actually really smart. Plus bad chemistry puns.)

Ralph - Either French or English Lit (Ralph’s a fairly emotional person, so either studying a Romance language like French, which is a fairly passionate, emotional language, or English Lit, with all the romanticism it involves, would probably suit him.)

Roger - geology (The boy likes rocks, okay?)

Simon - Philosophy (I was really torn between this and Religious Studies, but between his whole ‘the beast is inside of us’ revelation, and the fact that I really want him to be a mini Chidi Anagonye, it checks out.)

Sam - Chemistry (It would just highly amuse me if one twin were really nerdy and academically inclined, and the other...Less so. Plus, all the chemistry puns with Maurice.)

Eric - Film Studies (Eric is 100% that annoying sibling who talks during films, so if he did film studies, he could interject with stuff he’d learned in class. Plus, Ralric book vs movie debates.)

Piggy - Sociology (Very interested in the workings of society, probably enjoys bringing up and debating various points. Loudly remarks that the likes of Jack and Roger are what’s causing societal breakdown.)
