I have found more characters to write about to heal my daddy and mommy issues đ«Ą
Hope yâall are ready for me to start clearing out my draft which means requests are back open!
Hey, can you possible write something about Sebastian trying to comfort Ciel (maybe he had a nightmare or tripped and fell, etc.) but heâs really bad at emotions?
Of course! Thank you for the request! <3
~~~
Where was he? Why couldnât he move? Everything hurt so much; it was unbearable. Wait, who are the people surrounding him? Whatâs wrong with their faces? No, not faces. Masks, cult, knife, sacrifice! No! No, no, no, no, no! Help! Someone, please! Iâm scared! Theyâre going to hurt me again! Theyâre going to kill me! Help! Sebastian! Sebastian!
âSebastian!â Ciel screamed as he awoke from his night terror. He quickly set up and wrapped the blankets all the way around him.
Sebastian was at his side instantaneously.
âYou called, my lord?â
Ciel curled up and rested his head on his knees.
âTell me theyâre dead. Tell me you killed them.â Ciel ordered. Sebastian raised an eyebrow.
âKilled who, my lord? If youâll recall, Iâve killed quite a few people.â
âThem.â Ciel hissed. âThe ones who kept me in a cage and made my life a living nightmare. Are they dead? Did you kill them all?â
Sebastian thought the question was a bit silly. Of course they were dead. Since when does he leave things incomplete? Plus, Ciel had been present when he slain the cultists. Why was Ciel asking a question he very well knew the answer to? Still, Ciel had asked a question, so Sebastian answered.
âYes, my lord. Every cultist in that room faced a violent and painful death, I assure you.â
âGood. Good.â Ciel said, shakily.
How strange. Why was Ciel shuddering? Was he cold? Sebastian retrieved another blanket from the closet and wrapped it around Cielâs shoulders. Thatâs when he noticed the tears.
âYoung master? Why are you crying?â
âIâm not crying.â Ciel said, voice cracking.
âYes, you are.â
âNo, Iâm not.â
Sebastian ignored him and cupped Cielâs face. He gently lifted Cielâs face to meet his gaze. Sebastian used a handkerchief to dab the tears away.
âWell, if these arenât tears, Iâm afraid we must call a doctor.â
Ciel said nothing, but allowed Sebastian to continue.
âWhat happened, my lord? Did you hurt yourself?â
Ciel shook his head.
âYouâll laugh.â
âNo, I wonât. That would go against my aesthetic. What kind of butler would I be if I laughed at my young masterâs distress? Surely, not a good one.â
Ciel found a bit of comfort in the familiar phrase.
âItâs⊠dumb.â
âMaybe it is, but you have me intrigued.â
âI had a nightmare.â Ciel mumbled.
âI canât understand you, my lord.â
âI said I had a nightmare.â Ciel said a little louder.
âOh, is that all?â Sebastian asked after a moment.
âSee! You think itâs dumb.â
âI said nothing of the sort. I was merely surprised that a trivial nightmare is the cause of your tears.â
âI know, you donât have to tell me.â Ciel said, burying his face back into his knees.
Sebastian brushed down a few stray hairs on Cielâs head before leaving the room.
Of course he left. Why would he stay? The whole situation was ridiculous. Ciel Phantomhive, the Earl of Phantomhive, the Queenâs Guard Dog is crying over a nightmare. What a joke. What kind of Earl was he? He foolishly called for his butler and let him see him weak. He should never be weak. Why did he call for Sebastian anyway? He canât fight a nightmare. What was he expecting? For Sebastian to care? For Sebastian to tell him that everything was alright? How idiotic. How childish.
Cielâs head snapped up when he heard his door open again. Sebastian re-entered the room with a tray that held a cup of warm milk and a jar of honey. Sebastian sat the tray down next to Ciel. Ciel used the honey dipper to sweeten the milk to his preference. No words were exchanged. Ciel finished his drink and lied back down. Sebastian tucked Ciel in before speaking.
âWorry not, my little lord. The servants and I will keep you safe. You will get your revenge in due time. Then, Iâll devour your soul and youâll never be in pain again.â
âNo more painâŠâ Ciel muttered before falling asleep once more.
Sebastian gathered the tray, empty cup, and jar of honey and moved to leave. Sebastian placed his hand on the door knob and turned back towards Ciel.
âSweet dreams, Bocchan.â Sebastian said and he left Ciel to his rest.
I hope this was satisfactory! Thank you again for requesting it! <3
Chapter 5/? This chapter is where some of the darker themes begin. If that makes you uncomfortable, please do not continue reading from this point. I plan to keep some humor in the story, but it will only get darker from here. Put yourself first <3
One decision can alter the course of reality. The decision that changed the course of Mori's life was sending Soukoku to deal with a drug trade in France while sending Oda to die for the Special Ability permit. This last minute decision has altered the course of countless lives.
Chapter 1/?
Fluff & Angst (this chapter is 99% fluff)
It happens every time they travel outside of London. Originally, Ciel believed the only reason people mistook Sebastian for the Earl of Phantomhive was because he was the only adult between the two. Ciel mainly ignored it and allowed Sebastian to clear up the misconception on his own, but one merchant in York caught his attention.
"Ah, Vincent! It is good to see you, my old friend!"
Both Earl and Butler stopped in their tracks. Ciel glanced around the room in an attempt to locate who the merchant was referring to. At the same time, Sebastian addressed the merchant and explained that Vincent had been succeeded by his son. The merchant, in his old age, seemed to not understand what Sebastian was saying.
"Ah, I see. You are getting ready to pass on some of the lighter duties of being an Earl to your son, so you brought him with you to teach him finances and such. Do be careful taking him out, he looks a bit frail."
Ciel glared at the merchant and Sebastian smirked.
"And please, do something about that awful haircut. It looked better the way you had it awhile ago."
Now, Sebastian glared at the merchant and Ciel smirked.
That interaction had taken place two days ago and had not left Ciel's mind. Why had the merchant mistaken Sebastian for his father? Well, Sebastian had been mistaken for his father before when traveling to places they would not be recognized. Yet, he had been addressed as his father, Vincent Phantomhive.
Apparently, the interaction had yet to leave Sebastian's mind as well. However, it wasn't being mistaken for the late Earl that was haunting him.
Ciel turned his head to observed his appearance obsessed butler who was focused on his reflection in the window. Ciel attempted to resist the urge to roll his eyes and place his head in his hands.
His attempt failed.
"The merchant was balding. I don't know why you're letting this bother you." Ciel said.
Sebastian sighed and walked to Ciel's desk. He picked up the papers Ciel had been working on and began to sort through them.
"This is why I don't like humans, they're all so rude. How dare they comment on my appearance. They're all going to grow old and ugly. I'm never going to grow old and ugly..."
While Sebastian went on his little tangent, Ciel turned to look at him. To analyze him.
After about 30 seconds, Sebastian caught his eye and raised an eyebrow.
"But I'll never grow old and ugly." Ciel replied with a smirk after a beat of silence. Sebastian smirked back.
âNo, you wonât. I can promise you that.â
âBut youâll still grow old. After all, you are already old.â
Sebastianâs smirk falls.
âMust you be so cruel to me, my lord? Iâm always so kind to you-.â
âYou were just smiling at my impending death.â
âWell, yes, but thatâs still a ways off. And Iâm brought more joy at the thought of finally receiving my dinner than itâs side effect.â
âMhm.â
It wasnât until later that night (or, more specifically, the early hours of the next morning) that Ciel finally saw it.
Ciel was no strangers to nightmares and, by extension, Sebastian could be labeled the same. Heâs accepted that heâll most likely suffer nightmares for the remainder of his life; yet, heâs also aware that his butler will be with him even when he has taken his last breath. The routine will remain a constant: Ciel has a nightmare, wakes up, calls Sebastian to stay with him, on occasion will demand warm milk with honey, and Sebastian will stay with him until it is time to wake up.
Too bad the usual routine was nonexistent that night.
The dream started off pleasant, he and his family were all together in the sitting room. Mother had even allowed him a second slice of the chocolate cake they had for dessert. They were happy and everything was peaceful.
Until it wasnât.
He saw, felt, smelled, and heard everything. The smell of ash, the unbearable heat produced only by raging flames, his parents screams.
He felt someone grab him, he felt being thrown into a cage, he smelled death, he heard death. No details were spared. He relived everything. Only one thing was missing and that was Sebastian never appeared. The last thing he saw was a man bring a knife down for the killing blow.
Ciel woke up with a blood curling scream, soon followed by heaving sobs and more screams.
The whole manor awoke at the sound of his distress and rushed to him.
Sebastian (unsurprisingly) arrived first, quickly followed by Mey-Rin, Bard, Finny, and Tanaka.
âWhatâs wrong?â Sebastian asked, sounding more surprised than alarmed.
âDid someone break in?!â Bard exclaimed, weapons ready.
âI donât see any disturbance to the room. No signs of anyone breaking in.â Mey-Rin reported, glasses off.
âDoesnât mean there couldnât be something outside.â Finny said, hand still on one of the doors.
âWhat wrong, my lord?â Sebastian asked again as he moved towards Ciel. He received a scream mixed with a sob in return. Sebastian knelt by his chargeâs bed.
âYoung master?â
Ciel had yet to turn his attention to any of his servants, instead keeping gaze strictly down.
Sebastian sighed.
âAlright, Mey-Rin, Finny, and Bard, go search the yard for any disturbances. Tanaka, tell Finny to put down the door and then call the repairman.â
âHuh?â Finny questioned before turning to see that he had torn the door off of the doorway and was holding it upright by the doorknob. Finny let out a yelp and let go.
The sound of the door hitting the floor caused Ciel left his head up in alarm. Sebastian was the first one he saw, except he didnât see Sebastian. He saw a man who looked nearly identical to his father, save for the darker hair and red eyes. The way he was looking at him, waiting for him to speak, worried for his safety yet not worried at all because he knows heâll get the situation resolved soon. Vincent used to look at him He almost looked like he cared for him. Cielâs breathing slowed just a little as he reached his hand out only to retract it.
âFa-âŠâ
Sebastian didnât move aside from tilting his head.
âHm? Do you want something?â
âEarl! It has been too long. Is this your son? How adorable! How have you been?â
âEarl Phantomhive! Itâs a pleasure to see you and your son! Oh dear, what happened to his eye?â
âTaking your son out today, Earl Phantomhive?â
âAh, Vincent! It is good to see you, my old friend!â
The voices swarmed in Cielâs head as he continued to stare at his butler. Said butler was staring right back at him as he tried to decipher what had caused the Earl such distress. Sebastian tilted his head to the other side.
âDid you have a nightma-?â
Sebastian was cut off as Ciel wrapped his arm around his shoulders and buried his head in the crook of his neck.
A beat of silence passes before Sebastian raises his hand in a shooing motion towards the servants. The others left the room as quietly as possible to search the property as previously ordered.
Sebastian places a hand on top of Cielâs head in an attempt to both soothe and fix the boyâs messy hair (it had been bugging him).
âWell, this is new.â Sebastian said, a bit uncomfortable due to the tears soaking into his uniform, but no harm was done.
Sebastianâs main concern at the moment was Cielâs heart beat which was much too quick for his liking. At this rate, Ciel would work himself up to becoming ill or worse.
â⊠Itâs not fair.â Ciel managed to get out through his sobs. Sebastian raised an eyebrow.
âHardly anything is.â Sebastian agreed, eyes scanning the room for the fifth time just to ensure no foul play had occurred. He was sure nothing had happened but the current state Ciel was in made him question his senses. Nightmares are an easy fix, they had their routine. Surely, something must have happen.
Ciel continued to mumble various things that Sebastian could not understand and labeled as hysterics. Normally, Sebastian would have made his young charge warm milk with honey by now, but the young master didnât seem interested in letting him go any time soon. How⊠inconvenient.
So, he stayed. He stayed until Ciel ended up crying himself to sleep and he stayed until the servants returned.
He really should have left the moment he sensed the servants making their way back up to Cielâs room.
Sebastian could hear the servants whisper among themselves before shushing Finny after he exclaimed something about a great idea.
Slowly, the servants made their way over to the pair. Sebastian repressed a sigh.
âWhat now? Whatever it is, youâll have to manage it yourselves. Iâm a bit tied down at the moment.â Sebastian asked, his attention still focused on Ciel.
The servants glanced at each other, smiling.
âIâm gonna take that as a yes.â Bard said and the servants quickly left the room in hushed discussions.
Sebastian decided it was best to ignore whatever they were up to now for the sake of his own sanity. Cielâs heartbeat had begun to slow to a pace Sebastian deemed healthy for a human. Heâll stay with the boy for another 10 minutes to ensure his sleep was at least somewhat peaceful. Afterwords, he will tuck the young Earl back into bed and resume his duties.
5 minutes had passed when the servants returned with pillows, blankets, marshmallows, and plushies. Sebastian used his free hand to rub his forehead.
âWhy-?â
âDonât look at us like that! Youâre the one who said we could have a slumber party.â Bard whisper-yelled.
Sebastian was about to point out that he never technically said yes before he noticed the what Bard was holding.
âBardroy, why the hell do you have pink unicorn plushie?â Sebastian asked with a raised eyebrow.
âHer name is Bubblegum!â
âItâs okay, Mister Sebastian! Bard said that real manly men love unicorns. Look! I have a yellow one! Her name is Yellow!â Finny said, proudly displaying Yellow.
Bard beamed with pride and patted Finny on the shoulder. Sebastian looked less than impressed.
âHow creative.â Sebastian deadpanned. Sebastian also took note of the purple owl Mey-Rin held and the teddy bear that laid on Tanakaâs head.
Sebastian sighed and shook his head.
Mey-Rin and Tanaka began to set up their respective sleeping areas while Finny was excitedly explaining Yellowâs backstory to Bard and Sebastian who looked like he wanted to jump out of the window to escape this hell. It was obvious Bard was the only of the two invested in the story as he was the only one asking questions and interacting.
The surrounding noise caused Ciel to begin to stir a bit. He wasnât fully awake, if anything he was mostly still asleep, but he decided that his current position of his upper body resting on Sebastian and his lower body still resting on the bed was no longer comfortable. He tried to push himself off of the bed using his legs, but ended up moving less than an inch.
âMy lord?â Sebastian questioned. The servants began to hush, worried they had disrupted the young masterâs sleep. Ciel hummed in response and tugged on Sebastianâs tailcoat. Sebastian raised an eyebrow.
Ciel let out a huff and tugged on the tailcoat again.
âWhat is it?â
Ciel let out a unsatisfied hum. The servants began to throw out ideas as to what they thought Ciel may want.
âMaybe heâs cold?â
âMaybe he wants a unicorn too?â
âI think he wants a hug!â
âHo, ho, ho, some things never change.â
The servants and Sebastian quickly turn their heads around.
âLook! Itâs the real Tanaka!â Finny said with a bright smile.
âWhat do you mean?â Sebastian asked.
âThe young master has always been susceptible to nightmares, even as a small toddler. I imagine theyâve only gotten worse due to past events.â Tanaka said, getting up to walk towards the pair.
âWhenever the young master didnât possess the strength to seek out his parents, his father would answer his cries and hold him until morning. So, I assume,â Tanaka said, moving the young Earl to rest completely on Sebastianâs chest.
âThis is what he is after.â Tanaka stated, before shrinking again and silence fell over the room.
Sebastian moved so his back was against the side of the bed and Ciel could have a clear view of the exit should he wake from another nightmare.
âGuess instead of being âone hell of a butlerâ youâre actually one hell of a cradle!â Bard said with a smile.
âBardroy, do you enjoy breathing?â
~~~
When Ciel woke up, his first thought was to go back to sleep. He was enveloped in a comforting warm and Sebastian had yet to throw the curtains open. Then, he heard snoring.
âHmm⊠what...?â Ciel mumbled.
âAh, good morning, my lord.â Sebastian said in a voice that was much too cheerful to be used during the morning. Nevertheless, Ciel returned the greeting out of reflex before turning towards the source of the noise.
âWhatâs going on?â Ciel asked with a yawn.
âApparently, they couldnât bare the thought of leaving you alone after last night. You gave us quite the scare.â Sebastian said.
âEven you?â
âEven me.â
Ciel studied Sebastian once more before shaking his head. Itâs just a coincidence. Sebastian had never met his father, he had only seen paintings after he had taken his form. There was no way for Sebastian to have purposefully taken a form that could pass for his fatherâs twin or at the very least brother. Unless Sebastian had somehow managed to look through his memories, there was no way-âŠ
Oh, that bastard!
âHm? Do I have something on my face?â
Ciel blinked. Confronting the demon would only lead to an argument that Ciel would most likely loose. Besides, he didnât have the energy to go back and forth right now. So, he settled with the best thing he could think of.
âNo, itâs nothing. Looks like some more wrinkles have made themselves known.â
Sebastian said nothing but narrowed his eyes at the child in his arms. This would be frightening to anyone else, but the effect was lost on Ciel. Mainly because Sebastian barely wasted any time before glancing around the room, looking for somewhere to look at his reflection.
Ciel smirked and turned his attention back to the still sleeping servants.
âWhy the hell is Bard sleeping with a pink unicorn?â
~~~
Does anyone know any fics where Sebastian looking like Vincent is adressed? Either from gossiping from the servants or even Ciel thinking about it,
I kinda wanna read something like that.
At this rate Iâll make a âKeeping up with the Phantomhivesâ AU
Iâm just saying, right about now would be a good time for Verlaine to step in
I love them sm theyâre so dear to me đ€Č
Butler #1: I have never been prouder of my young master. Lord William nearly got a perfect score on his history exam.
Butler #2: Thatâs good, but nearly perfect wouldnât belong in the Green Manor. My young master always makes perfect scores on his exams and he has been able to tell which tea I bring him without any hints. He is a true genius.
Sebastian: Aw, thatâs adorable. Itâs taken Lord Green 2 years to determine which tea is brought to him without being told? How cute. Lord Phantomhive could tell me the name of his morning tea within the first few days of serving him. Not to mention how he has never failed in his duties as the Queenâs Guard Dog. So much blood and gore, yet that has never affected his studies or his Funtom company. My little lord is clearly superior.
âšBonusâš
Butler #1: What about you, Claude? What has your young master accomplished?
Claude: Alois has done nothing but give me a headache. He also removed one of Hannahâs eyes, but I donât really care about that.
I really need to update this fic >_<
The first chapter of His Master, His Contract is up! I havenât abandoned His Butler, Undercover or The Phantomhive Servantsâ Favorite Moments, those chapters are just taking me a bit longer than expected. Both are in the editing stages and I will post them as soon as I can. Thank you for your patience! <3
